So you got a little carried away at Thursday happy hour, and now you’re struggling through Friday just wishing a grilled cheese would drop from the sky and ease your suffering for a bit. Any hungover person has thought this very same thing (though maybe they wished for a bacon egg and cheese, or a diet Pepsi). The only thing that has now changed is what was previously a daydream is now a reality thanks to an adventurous Australian pop-up restaurant called Jafflechutes. Basically, these fun-loving Aussies like jumping out of planes, and they like jaffles (the word down under for grilled cheese). They are not in it for the money, but the sheer whimsical-ness of receiving a sandwich from the heavens.
They are bringing their operation to NYC sometime soon. If you’re interested in taking part in the fun, all you have to do is follow them on facebook and twitter where they will announce the day before they’ll be dropping snacks out of planes. Then you order your sandwich ($5 for cheese and tomato and $6 for cheese and ham), and find the secret location of an X marked on the ground where a parachuter will arrive with your meal in it’s own mini parachute for the effect. Sounds like a fun way to get lunch!
